10 AmeriCorps members will recruit, manage, and train volunteers and students to focus on environmental stewardship in underserved neighborhoods in New York City. At the end of the three-year period, we anticipate working with 2,400 volunteers, 13,206 students, maintaining 1,017 newly planted street trees, planting 1,350 trees in community tree plantings, improving 6 miles of beaches and recreation trails and restoring 10 acres of degraded natural parkland. This project will focus on the CNCS focus area of Environmental Stewardship. The CNCS investment of $132,999 will be matched with $365,994.
