Aunt Martha's twenty AmeriCorps members will offer a positive change in the lives of children, youth and adults from distressed communities such as Ford Heights, Chicago Heights, Riverdale, Harvey, Park Forest, and other surrounding communities. They will leverage 60 traditional volunteers, to assist them with mentoring, teaching and forming/running community activities that promote education, employment, healthy eating/living and community resources in the above listed communities. At the end of each proposed project year Aunt Martha's staff, AmeriCorps members and their recruited traditional volunteers will have connected youth and adults with mentors, employment opportunities, healthy living and education opportunities; by providing and engaging them in service and strengthening the volunteer infrastructure in their communities. Aunt Martha's AmeriCorps project will focus on Education, Economic Opportunity and capacity building. The CNCS investment of $266,000 will be matched with $84,639 from Aunt Martha's AmeriCorps program.
