Chicago Area Project's (CAP) proposes to increases the academic achievements and reduce at-risk behaviors through partnerships with its partnership with its 41 Affiliate organizations in Metropolitan Chicago. The organization seeks to use 8 Full-Time and 16 Part-Time AmeriCorps members to 1) mentor and tutor at risk youth through educational, leadership and recreational activities; 2) provide financial literacy and career information to at risk youth; and 3) increase employment and vocational linkages through job readiness and employment opportunities. Chicago Area Project (CAP) will target at risk youth by enhancing educational opportunities; increasing school attendance; offering youth leadership; financial literacy; job readiness and placement. CAP will recruit the AmeriCorps members in the following target communities: Southside, Westside, South Suburbs, and West Suburbs of Cook County, IL.
