Commission AmeriCorps State FY 2012
Using principles from The Natural Step framework, 38 AmeriCorps members with the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project will partner with volunteers, local government staff, and area nonprofit organizations in Central Wisconsin to address pressing issues in five areas: food systems, energy, natural areas and ecosystems, waste and recycling, and water. These members will leverage an additional 570 volunteers in their efforts. Our project will focus on the CNCS focus areas of Environmental Stewardship and Healthy Futures. At the end of the three year period, we expect that AmeriCorps-led education and outreach will have positively changed the health and environmental behaviors of nearly 7,000 individuals (approximately 2,300 per year), and that this collective movement will begin to be institutionalized in workplace and municipal policies that promote healthy choices for individuals and the environment. The CNCS investment of $197,721 will be matched with $115,969 in local support.
