Thirty AmeriCorps members with and without disabilities will be enrolled in the Volunteer Partnerships program to serve at non-profit community organizations in Dane County, WI. Member service will align with the CNCS focus areas of Healthy Futures, Environmental Stewardship, and Economic Opportunities. Members will fill critical roles at food banks, provide independent living services for older adults and individuals with disabilities, and complete park clean-up activities. Membership will be comprised of at least fifteen individuals with disabilities who were unemployed before enrolling. Members will leverage at least 200 volunteers to engage in community service activities. The program began in October of 2010 when the ARC-WI was awarded supplemental funding for one year and was then continued through 2011-2012. Outcomes for the 2012-2013 program year include: increased food security for community members, maintenance of independence for older adults and individuals with disabilities, cleaner local area parks, and increased economic opportunity for members with disabilities. CNCS investment of $177,076 will be matched with $100,276 of projected agency match.
