Forward Community Investments
Nonprofit Capacity Building Program 2011
Wisconsin communities are experiencing growing challenges in meeting accelerating needs of distressed populations. Data shows that while facing increased demands, charitable organizations (including nonprofit and faith-based entities) are also dealing with issues of survival, let alone sustainability. Forward Community Investments (FCI) proposes to strengthen the performance management of Wisconsin nonprofits. FCI will build on its existing relationships as well as its strong 17 year track record of delivering funding as well as technical assistance and support in both group and one-to-one settings.
Focusing activity across the State of Wisconsin will maximize impact and deliver improved outcomes in rural areas often overlooked. These areas are also among the hardest hit in recent times by both natural disasters and economic downturns. Such a focus will also allow for tangible returns within the short window of time for this demonstrated project.
The overall approach to this program is to conduct overlapping assessment, training, and cohort development activities with the goal being to expand an organization's performance management, while also creating networks amongst organizations that further enlarge resources and create long-term infrastructure for ongoing capacity building, community engagement and collaboration opportunities. FCI will use pre- and post-assessment tools to gather data from nonprofits, allowing for individual and aggregate analysis of outcomes.
The total project budget would be $408,823: $200,000 in funds from the Corporation for National and Community Service and $208,823 in funds provided by the required match.
