We must have the capacity to address this pressing social problem. Improving support of and collaboration with local suicide prevention coalitions is the foundation of this strategy. The development and strengthening of these community coalitions will provide the opportunity and structure for allied groups to pursue coordinated strategies to educate and increase public awareness that suicide is a public health problem. Tri-County BHS Inc. in collaboration with the SPCCG is fully committed to increasing collaborations with partners to obtain opportunities for programs, awareness, and prevention. The coalition will facilitate service advocacy aligned with national priorities through training, disaster services, and outreach efforts for healthy futures. An initial priority for project is with military veteran groups, the increasing number of veteran suicides and emotional problems. Funding of the project will build the capacity of Tri-County BHS, Inc. with SPCCG to ensure the services will be delivered in Houston, Peach, Crawford counties and Robins Air Force Base. Funding will allow the applicant a network of relationships catalyzing social innovation and support for long-term success. Saving lives through training, information dissemination and resources this coalition will have the ability to strengthen communities and provide leadership for a grassroots movement which offers hope for preventing this tragic loss of life in central Georgia and ultimately the state and region.
