Harris County Healthy Futures NCBP The objective of the Harris County Nonprofit Capacity Building Program (NCBP) is to increase the capacity and sustainability of 45 small and mid-size nonprofit agencies serving Harris County's medically underserved whose mission/purpose aligns with the CNCS focus on Healthy Futures. The Harris County Healthcare Alliance (HCHA) in Houston, Texas will assist small and midsize nonprofit health service agencies that serve medically underserved areas where more than 54% of the population have income that is below 200% of Federal Poverty Level. The project will provide nonprofit clinics with technical assistance to assess and improve their performance measurement and improvement systems in all areas affecting organizational performance: finance, governance, operations, clinical outcomes, information technology, and networking. The training series will address topics such as: Board Development; Federal, State and Local Healthcare Environment; Healthcare Compliance; Nonprofit Accounting; Financial/Business Planning; Cultural Competence; Fundraising/Development; State/Federal Grants; Needs Assessments & Outcome Measurement; Best Practices in Collaboration; Leadership/Staff Development; and IT/HIT. At the end of the project, clinics will demonstrate performance improvement in each goal area, and other nonprofits assisted will demonstrate application and effectiveness of training received. HCHA is requesting $218,310 from CNCS to implement the project, which will be matched dollar for dollar, with funds available through a Community Clinics Funders' Collaborative.
