Hopa Mountain, in partnership with the Seventh Generation Fund, the Indian Nonprofit Alliance, Artemisia Associates, and WolfStar Productions proposes to expand services through Strengthening the Circle, A Native Nonprofit Leadership Program (STC) to support small and midsized nonprofits' that are located on or near Indian Reservations in the Northern Rockies and Plains (including Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Idaho) that want to develop and implement performance management systems. STC partners' five-year-old proven collaborative will provide training, technical assistance, and performance management tools to help 48 nonprofits establish procedures for measuring progress and improving performance towards identified outcomes leading to community impact. There are four goals: (1) Build small and midsize organizations' leadership, organizational and performance management skills so that there are more resources to improve and increase services for low income families; (2) Strengthen peer-to-peer learning to share support and leverage innovation and more effective programs and services; (3) Increase access to professional consultants and technical assistance in these underserved areas; and (4) Enhance the ability of organizations in tribal communities to successfully compete for federal and foundation grants. To accomplish these goals, STC programs will include a proven mix of capacity building program activities including a year-long training and technical assistance program open competitively to 24 organizations, 4 reservation-based workshops annually that focus on capacity-building and individualized technical assistance for all participants.
