Women's Sports Foundation
Nonprofit Capacity Building Program 2011
TITLE: Women's Sports Foundation PROJECT LOCATION Atlanta and Northwestern Georgia SUMMARY INFORMATION: After more than 25 years of researching the psychological, social and physiological dimensions of girls' sports and fitness participation, the Women's Sports Foundation (WSF)'s unique expertise is teaching community organization leaders, coaches and volunteers how to create, implement and sustain their own programs specifically for girls. Therefore, GoGirlGo!'s basic design is directly aligned with the goals of the CNCS Non-Profit Capacity Building grant program. Because of the extraordinary fit with this CNCS funding opportunity, as well as our confidence that we can build on the longstanding relationships we have developed in Atlanta and the state of Georgia through GoGirlGo! since 2004, the Women's Sports Foundation is requesting a CNCS Non-Profit Capacity Building Program grant of $171,969 in support of providing capacity-building activities to 100 small-to-midsize community organizations in the Atlanta/North Georgia region (counties listed above) whose programs also align with the national priority of Healthy Futures. We will provide long-term capacity building support for these 100 organizations over two years through the use of our proven GoGirlGo! health education and life skills curriculum and Capacity Building training activities (Leadership Institutes, webinars, and site visits) -- as described in greater detail in the timeline contained in our proposal narrative.
