JWB Children's Services Council of Pinellas County
The Juvenile Welfare Board requests $98,000 in matched funds for a new program, "AmeriCorps Pinellas READS." AmeriCorps Members will tutor 112 children who struggle with reading. Proposed sites are 9 neighborhood family centers in communities with high concentrations of low-income and minority populations. Two centers specialize in serving the Hispanic and deaf communities. The after school program will provide individual and consistent support through the year to help these children succeed.
