AmeriCorps members will be trained on AmeriCorps service principles, aging and disability resources in the State of Alaska and how to provide Medicare information and assistance or deliver a chronic disease self management program. Half of the members will concentrate on presenting and providing Medicare information and generating future volunteers. Half of the members will concentrate on delivering a chronic disease self management program titled Living Well Alaska and generating future volunteers. The operating agency is a state agency and has civil service principles as its core mission. The host agencies are non-profit entities that reflect service to their respective communities. These values will be conveyed on an ongoing basis via formal training, supervision and informally through the work of the agencies.
